This one-day symposium will bring together researchers, creative thinkers, artists, and wider communities interested in policing and criminal justice with a particular focus on women’s transnational prison activism. The keynote speaker is Professor Beth E. Richie.
The event will be followed by a fundraising event at Turl Street Kitchen in Oxford, where musicians, poets, and spoken word artists will perform to raise money for a charity that works with imprisoned women in the UK.
Submissions should include an outline of a 20-minute paper in no more than 250 words and a brief biography or CV of the presenter. The organisers also welcome proposals for fully formed panels, including from organisations, charities, and individuals working with women in prison in the UK and the US. The deadline for submissions is 1st April 2019. Find out more here
