HMPPS grant funding now open

Her Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service’s (HMPPS) grant programme for 2020-2022 is now open for applications.

The grants HMPPS is offering are for activity over two years (April 2020– March 2022) aimed at supporting rehabilitation of people in the criminal justice system. They are open to voluntary sector organisations to support the piloting of new services, approaches or extending/developing current programmes. This means the grants cannot be used to fund existing work.

Previous grantees include theatre company No Place Productions, for its ‘Man Up’ programme; and the Design Against Crime Research Centre, for its cell furniture project.

The total value of the grant scheme is up to £2.5m over the two years and individual grants from £50,000 – £250,000 can be awarded. The four grant themes for 2020-2022 are: Improving support for families and significant others, Improving outcomes for those with protected characteristics, Improving health and well-being, Improving safer custody across the prison estate.

Bids must be submitted by 1st November 2019 via the Ministry of Justice Sourcing Portal.

Clinks held three stakeholder events to give voluntary organisations further information about the programme and has published a blog with slides from these events alongside further information, which we recommend applicants read carefully before applying.
